Creativity is encouraged for the “Artistic Glam” dress code, anything from artistic prints and themed accessories to bold colours with a bit of personality.
A complimentary drink and roaming treats come with admission, and, in the spirit of all those fun Refinery parties of yore, there’s live figure drawing with an on-site instructor to remind us what brought us here in the first place: that creativity separates us from beasts.
Details: 9 p.m. – midnight Saturday at AGA (2 Sir Winston Churchill Sq.), $100 at youraga.ca.
But There Were Also Flowers: Local artist Marlena Wyman will be present from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. for her Saturday art opening, showing off her paintings inspired by the history of prairie women.
“There were those who made do with their unfair lot,” notes the former Provincial Archive employee, “and those who took that unfairness and turned it around to fight for and win women’s rights — a groundswell that began on the prairies.
“We must continue their work and remain vigilant to keep hold of and press on for rights and freedoms for all.”

Details: Through Dec. 7 at Bugera Matheson Gallery (10110 124 St.), no charge.
