Police investigating second fatal pedestrian collision in north Edmonton this week: EPS

For the second time this week, Edmonton police are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian.
Police in a release Friday that at approximately 8:10 p.m. on Wednesday, a 2004 Chevrolet Impala driven by a 21-year-old man was travelling south on 97 Street and approaching the intersection on 129 Avenue, when it struck a jaywalking man, who police believe in his 50s.
Officers and emergency crews tended to the man, but he died on scene. Police said the major collision investigations section is investigating the collision.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dash camera footage of the collision can contact EPS at 780-423-4567.
On Tuesday, at roughly 11 p.m. a woman died while crossing the intersection of 82 Street and 123 Avenue.
Police said a 2005 Mazda A3 was travelling north towards the intersection on a green light when the woman began crossing west.
The Mazda hit the woman, which sent her into the path of a 2018 Honda CRV in the next lane. Police said both cars remained on scene.
Police said the woman died on scene. Investigators believe the woman was under the influence of alcohol when she was crossing the street. No charges have been laid and police aren’t releasing the name of the woman who died.
